With 20,000 students from 130 countries worldwide, The University of Chester provides a vibrant, diverse and safe home for international students.
We are one of the oldest higher education providers in the United Kingdom having recently celebrated our 180th year of teaching, starting off as a teacher training college back in 1839.
Originally based on one campus in Chester, we now offer an extensive range of single and combined honours programmes across a number of specialist sites in Chester, Shrewsbury and Warrington.
Preparing for Your Future
Students can choose from a comprehensive range of more than 400 courses across all levels, taught at specialist sights which boast state-of-the-art facilities.
We offer courses which emphasise practical learning to enhance prospects via industry placements or overseas opportunities ranging from five-weeks to one-year. Our students can also benefit from a supportive Careers and Employability service which provides a variety of employability-enhancing experiences through the curriculum, employer contact, tailored group sessions and individual advice and guidance.
Students can also work towards achieving the Chester Difference Award which recognises students for their extra-curricular achievements. Students can qualify for this award via part-time work, volunteering, employability training, additional short courses or being a captain or committee member of a club or society.
City Life
Chester is a modern and contemporary city, rich in history and culture. One of eight world-famous British Heritage cities, Chester welcomes over eight million tourists each year with a wide variety of attractions all within walking distance from each other. Ideally placed in the North West of England, it is less than an hour from Manchester and Liverpool, just a two-hour direct train journey to London and close to both the beautiful Welsh coast and mountains.
The ancient Roman walls still surround Chester’s city centre, which along with the renowned Cathedral, Eastgate Clock, and Roman Amphitheatre, demonstrate its 2,000-year-old heritage. On the outskirts of the city you’ll also find the world famous Chester Zoo and Cheshire Oaks, the largest retail outlet in the UK.
Chester has received countless awards in recent times which include:
