Founded in 1945, Universidad del Valle is one of the three most significant public universities in Colombia and the most important in the south-western region of the country. This has enabled it to liaise and to obtain support from a great number of international agencies and other universities through cooperation agreements. It stands out for its academic excellence in fields of Health, Humanities, Business, and Engineering, in addition to development in areas of scientific and technological research. Universidad del Valle has a High-Quality Institutional Accreditation granted by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia, and NTCGP1000:2009, ISO9001:2008, and IQNetquality-management certifications.

In line with the regional strategy and specific socio-economic development needs that distinguish it as a pioneer institution in the region, the University has a main campus in the city of Cali, as well as regional campuses throughout the Valle del Cauca department in the municipalities of Buga, Buenaventura, Caicedonia, Cartago, Palmira, Tuluá, Yumbo, and Zarzal, as well as Santander de Quilichao in the department of Cauca.
In 2018, Universidad del Valle has welcomed 178 international students, thanks to links with partner universities around the world including double degree programs and international scholarships and internships.
