Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) is one of fifteen private universities in India to enjoy complete academic autonomy based on their continued successful rankings, in particular their Saveetha Dental College and Hospital ranked third in the 2021 NIRF ranking of Dental Colleges in India and eighteenth in dentistry in the 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject. They also achieved a diamond QS I-Guage rating as of 2021.
The Saveetha Medical and Education Trust, created in 1986 to provide medical relief while promoting education and research, founded the Saveetha Dental College and the attached General Hospital in 1988. To achieve ‘Deemed to be University’ status, the trust sponsored the Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences in the year 2001 – developing into the institution we know today.
SIMATS is located in Chennai, India, the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu and its largest in area and population. It is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, and is the most prominent cultural, economic and educational centre of South India.
