Gdańsk University of Technology (GUT) is a fully autonomous state university. It continuously develops and pays attention to providing
the highest quality education in order to meet the needs of the dynamically developing economy and society. The university undergoes
a cyclical accreditation assessment. There are 8 faculties, 33 first and 33 second cycle study programmes, including 19 fields of study
and specialisations in English, Doctoral School and Implementation Doctoral School offering studies in 3 fields of science under which
12 disciplines of science are available to choose, one MBA course accredited by AMBA. Other numbers connected with GUT are:
nearly 77 hectares of university campus, 276 laboratories, over 2,300 places in 11 students halls of residence and more than
15,000 students.

 

Gdańsk University of Technology is a member of many international cooperation networks, including CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research), BSRUN (Baltic Sea Region University Network), EUA (European University
Association) and CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate), and participates in international programmes such as Erasmus+,
Erasmus Mundus, EEA grants, Norwegian Financial Mechanism, CEEPUS.

 

In 2019 the European Commission prolonged the right to use the prestigious ‘HR Excellence in Research’ logo for Gdańsk University of Technology. It is a symbol of quality assuring the highest standards of research and employment of the leading staff at GUT.

 

What is more, in October 2019 Gdańsk University of Technology (GUT) was awarded the status of a research university in the national
program ‘Excellence Initiative – Research University’. GUT was ranked second in the classification amongst 20 Polish universities
and was recognized as a top technical university. The award represents a great honour and prestige to GUT as well as additional
financial resources over the period of seven years that will be allocated to the development of research and teaching priority areas within the University. As a result of receiving the status of a research university GUT established 4 Priority Research Centers, which are
currently dynamically developing:

  • The BioTechMed Center
  • The EcoTech Center
  • The Advanced Materials Center
  • The Digital Technologies Center
